History of the Kimberley Echo
KUNUNURRA, the home of The Kimberley Echo, is perched at the far north east corner of Western Australia and is the main regional centre for the area.
Kununurra is one of the nation's newest settlements and in a short period of time has prospered to a population of 6,500 The Kimberley Echo, established since 1980 has seen and covered all the major changes in the region and enjoys a strong readership and loyal local following.
Based on agriculture, mining and tourism, the East Kimberley is progressing at an amazing rate and The Kimberley Echo is fast following its lead. |

Scott Shinnick

Recently returned to Kununurra from Broome, Scott's background in media includes experience in press, television and radio, both in the Perth and the Kimberley. In fact, Scott was employed at the Kimberley Echo in the mid-late 1990's as sales manager, before leaving town to pursue a (short-lived) career in music.
Scott enjoys fishing, camping, golf and reading, and has a keen interest in all things related to aviation.Scott is very happy to be back in the East Kimberley and excited about the future of the region and its favourite newspaper, The Kimberley Echo.

Chantal Adams

Chantal Adams was born in South Africa and moved to Australia in 2001.
Having delved into media and arts, she spent some time in South East Asia teaching English and eating sticky rice.
She recommenced her travels in the vast continent of Australia, only to end up in Kununurra and has been with the Echo since April 2007.
Her passions include literature, film, travel and green mangoes.

This is Bruce’s second tour of duty at The Kimberley Echo and he brings a wealth of media experience (20 years) to the newspaper.
His hard nose approach to getting to the bottom of the big issues has helped increase circulation as he helped bring back a ‘value for money’ aspect to the paper.Bruce is involved heavily with various local community groups and has a real handle on what the local issues are.

Andy Dobson

Andy Dobson is the Echo’s second longest serving employee, moving up to take over the reins of the Graphic Designer position early in 2007.
Andy is an active and competitive equestrienne, competing successfully in many horse sports at a high level. Other things that Andy is partial to are wakeboarding, snow skiing and fishing and all sorts of craft, from jewellery making to intricate embroidery.

Christian Strawhorn

Christian Strawhorn moved from Shepparton, Victoria to Kununurra in June 2007.
Christian has worked in various sales industries throughout Victoria and NSW.
He joined the Echo in September 2007 and enjoys the challenge of working in the media industry.
His interests are golf, football and socializing.
