Public skate park meeting

Councillors and staff speak with members of the public in White Gum Park

A large crowd of adults and children turned up in White Gum Park on Saturday to discuss the proposed skate park with Shire councillors and staff.

Councillors Barbara Johnson, Keith Wright, Bill Barnes and Michele Pucci fielded questions and listened to views from interested parties.

The general feeling of the meeting seemed to be in favour of building the facility in White Gum Park.

Issues, such as fencing were discussed, and Shire president Johnson said the councillors and staff had taken on board the issues raised and would further discuss them.

The $70,000 facility has been welcomed by the town's youth, who are eager for it to proceed.

Those against the venture fear its impact on the park, Paddy's Market and surrounding areas.
