Up in flames

The fast thinking and actions of a road train driver got his prime mover out of danger on the Gibb River Road last Friday.

It is believed a punctured tyre on the rear trailer caught fire and set alight the trailer itself.

A fuel tank on the trailer exploded, spreading the flames.

The driver had already unhooked the prime mover and moved it out of harm's way.

Sgt Eddie Clouter of Wyndham Police said the matter had been reported to police and there were no concerns.

He did say, however, that truck drivers should have manifests of what was in their loads to help with emergency precautions when there was an incident.
