All good news for HCJB
It has been a good fortnight for HCJB Radio. Not only has the organisation finally got its radio masts in the air, but it has also recorded the highest ever sugar content in its sugar cane, harvested at the property at the intersection of Victoria Highway and Packsaddle Road. HCJB's percentage pol was 16.69, a new record for the valley, just edging out Oasis Bananas with a pol of 16.56. Farm and project manager Mike Moore is very pleased. The three 37-metre towers were erected and the poles that will carry the transmission cable were cemented into place. |
A crane and riggers erected the towers and connected up the links for red lights that will top the towers. While the towers are tall, they have little visual impact. Mike is not surprised: "They are three metres shorter than the tower in the Shire Depot in Kununurra," he said. The transmitter is expected to be installed within the next month and the Christian Broadcasting Station should go on air on December 22. |
Broadcasts will be heard in India, Ethiopia and the South Pacific. For Mike it is a big triumph, after battling bureaucracy and objectors the end is in sight. The only down side is that Mike wont be at HCJB when it goes to air. He and his family will be travelling south for Christmas. |
