Lillee - talent scout

Legendary WA cricketer Dennis Lillee was in Kununurra on Monday seeking potential fast bowlers to improve WA's talent pool.

His trip was sponsored by the Department of Sport and Recreation's Alcoa Coach in Residence Program.

The tour was designed to bolster WA's flagging fast bowling stocks, by tapping into areas of the State that have not traditionally produced many first class cricketers.

He put some locals through their paces at the nets behind Kununurra District High School.

Dennis said the North West of WA had only produced a handful of cricketers who had reached the highest levels, and resources were needed to stimulate the growth of the sport in the region.
