What's in a name

A rose by any other name is still a rose and smells the same....

Well, no it would seem, if two motions to go before the Shire of Wyndham last Tuesday were anything to go by.

Unfortunately, because of deadlines, we can't tell you what the outcome was but we will keep you posted.

The first motion came from Cr Bill Barnes and he wants to rename the Kununurra Airport the East Kimberley Regional Airport.

Cr Keith Wright wants to change the name of the section of Fishfarm Road between the highway and Crossing Falls Road.

He wants it called Maxwell Plains Road.

With the lack of fish farms in the area these days he probably has a point.

From a historical side the name would be retained further along the road in the area where there was a fish farm in the mid 1970s.

Cr Wright also wants street signs to be replaced (only as they become damaged or need replacing) with ones carrying the Shire logo and street numbers between intersections.
