The two jets that screamed through the air above Kununurra on Monday morning were not a sign of anything sinister.

They were F18's from 75 Squadron, based at Tindal near Katherine.

They were involved in a routine navigation training exercise.

Although they did not land, Kununurra is an alternative landing strip for the squadron.

Wing Commander Steve Hart said the squadron conducted regular exercises over the East Kimberley, but must have just been a little more visible on this exercise.

The Kimberley Echo received numerous calls from people nervous about the jets' visits.
