Stabbed to death
A 40-year-old Warmun man has died after being stabbed twice in the inner thigh. The incident happened on Friday night in the car park outside the Turkey Creek Roadhouse at Warmun. Members of the public rushed to the man's assistance and took him to the Warmun Clinic. However, he appeared to have lost too much blood and attempts to revive him failed. |
He was pronounced dead. Bessy Daylight, 35, of Warmun has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm. She appeared in the Kununurra Court of Petty Sessions on Saturday and was remanded to the Broome Court of Petty Sessions on December 12. Police expect to upgrade the charge to manslaughter or murder, pending the outcome of a post mortem examination. |
The victim's name cannot be released for cultural reasons. Det. Sgt Ashley Goy, of Kununurra Police, said incidents such as this highlighted the need to deal with alcohol consumption in communities.
