You will be caught

- Will Burrell

El Questro owner Will Burrell has issued a warning to people who want to kill or steal his cattle - you will be caught.

He told the Kimberley Echo that theft cost El Questro $30,000 a year and he was determined to stamp it out.

He said numerous patrols were now being mounted around the station and around the clock and people trying to get 'a killer' would be caught.

He warned he and his staff would be extra vigilant and anyone caught or suspected would be reported to police.

His statement follows a recent court case in Wyndham, where two men were convicted following an incident on the King River Road.

It was alleged that Mr Burrell and three of his staff found the two men with a freshly killed steer.

Its ear tag had been cut off and the hide sectioned prior to butchering.

Mr Burrell claimed the men had offered to pay him for the beast.

It was alleged in court that the men had been attempting to shoot a turkey bustard and the steer had got in the way.

The court accepted their guilty plea.

Kevin Ross and (Big) Derek Gallagher were each fined $400 with $38 costs.

Their firearms licenses were suspended for 12 months.
