Storm hits Kununurra

A severe storm uprooted trees and caused damage as it lashed the Ord Valley on Monday afternoon.

A large tree crushed a caravan at the Town Caravan Park.

The storm caused power blackouts in many areas.

Banana plantations in Packsaddle were severely damaged as winds and hail roared through the area.

It was a van that had been abandoned in the park and offered up for tender.

Falling trees also smashed fences at Lakeside Resort and the Diversion Gallery.

The storm missed the wind recording devices at Kununurra Airport and as a result wind speed figures are unavailable.
