The Baptist Fellowship in Kununurra finally has a permanent home - the old Agriculture Department/Education Department building in Coolibah Drive. An official opening of the premises was held on Sunday. In August 1991 several people got together to form a steering committee to establish a Baptist Fellowship. |
At first, members met in each other's homes, eventually moving on to the demountable at Kununurra District High School. During the next 12 years it moved about eight times, had eight pastors and numerous lay preachers and leaders Numbers of members fluctuated between four and 50. |
Two years ago, the fellowship had had enough and decided to look for a building of its own. Since buying the old government building, they have put a lot of time into doing it up and tidying up the surrounds and members say they still have a long way to go. |
