Last weekend the Kimberley School of Air branches of Parents and Citizens and Isolated Children's Parents Association ran another successful Picnic Race Meeting. Spectators and entrants came from all over the Kimberley. The children enjoyed making and racing their hobbyhorses and, later on, some fisticuffs. |
The egg and spoon race was a display of amazingly good sportsmanship. The horse racing provided plenty of entertainment with some horses coming home alone and one rider losing his trousers on the way to the post. There was a competition for the best-dressed woman, foot races and a tug-o-war. |
A presentation ball was held in the evening. The day was hailed as a success with plenty of entertainment and much fundraising for the two groups. School of the Air teachers were praised for the work they had put into making the day a success. |
