Why the double standard?

While the healthy debate continues around the zoning of the Kununurra Bore Field, Cr Keith Wright is asking why Kununurra is getting one treatment and Derby another.

On a recent trip to Derby Cr Wright was perturbed to notice a water source near the intersection of Wells Street and Le Lievre Street in the light industrial area.

It is located just 30 metres from the yard belonging to Kimberley Pest Control; a business that Cr Wright says has been there for some time.

He says that, regardless of whether it is in use or not, it is identified as a water source and has not had the 500-metre exclusion zone imposed on the area.

The bore field in Kununurra, in contrast, has had a preliminary report brought down that enforces not just the 500-metre exclusion zone, but more than double that in some directions.

To make sure that the area he has identified in Derby is correct, Cr Wright has given its exact position - 17 degrees 19 south, 123 degrees 39 east.
