Tragedy binds community

BY ANDREW MOCK

What a heartbreaking weekend we have all just experienced.

Four men have been tragically taken from us in the most awful circumstances.

There would not be anyone who hasn't been touched by this disastrous event. These four men were people's husbands, sons, brothers, boyfriends and friends.

It is wonderful to see the people of Kununurra closing ranks around the affected families and offering them all the love and support they can.

Don't be afraid to show you care; sometimes a hug, with no words being said, is all that's needed.

It is going to take time for people to progress through their grief, but with the help of others the process can be made a little easier.

Farmer Quentin Parker was fielding calls voluntarily at the Co-op on Monday and commented: "You would never get that sort of response in a city, where many people don't even care who their neighbours are."

The East Kimberley really is a unique place with unique people.

These people will never be forgotten.

They will live in our hearts forever.

Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.
