The storms are still brewing and there's bugger all breeze, it's as hot as hell - at least 40 degrees. The mangoes are finished, at least those that survived, the storm of all storms, which took us surprised. The bananas are buggered and mostly are flat - that's tree's not fruit - and so that is that. The paw paws are down, all chopped and beheaded and the fruits all gone - not to market - just shredded. The lemons were bashed and some were up-rooted and young fruits were downed where nature had looted. The trees were blown down as the rain lashed the ground - and the hail hit the roof with a terrible sound - the houses are safe, but the crops are all waste - and the clean-up was done without any haste. The banks are worried and the farmers are too, the money is short but then what do you do. It's happened before and will happen again - it's the nature of things in the stormy top end. |
