Fire danger not over

Despite some patches of rain, the fire danger period is far from over.

This is the message from Pincombe Range Bushfire Brigade chief James O'Kenny.

He said the Kimberley Echo's report on the fire, started by lightning, on Fritz and Andrea Bolten's airport property was a reminder of how dry things still were.

"In spite of recent storm rains, the fire season is not yet over," he said.

"Another reminder occurred on the evening of November 11, when lightning started a bushfire three kilometres east of W and G Bloecker's farm house, behind the cave paintings on Mulligan's Lagoon Road.

"Early the next morning, two tenders from the Pincombe Range Bushfire Brigade attended the fire, which was raging on a dry storm wind," James said.

The brigade managed to extinguish it before it became a major fire.

James has urged all landholders to contact their area brigade should they see fire or smell smoke in their area, until the danger is over.
