Wyndham woman Marjorie Hunter is one of five 2004 Department of Local Government and Regional Development Regional Achievers Award winners in WA. Marjorie has made a huge impact on the community of Wyndham. She and her husband John care take and manage the Bulungurr Hostel, which cares for the aged and victims of domestic violence. |
Marjorie's home has always been open to homeless and 'at risk' children. She travels frequently to Fork Creek to provide a Meals on Wheels service. She is a founding member of the Amenities Club and was instrumental in the establishment of the Aboriginal Resource Centre and the Joorook Ngarni Aboriginal Corporation. |
Marjorie is a Catholic matriarch and church leader. As well as a trophy, she will receive a $1000 AwardSaver account to be spent on furthering her field of endeavour. |
