Wyndham woman wins

Wyndham woman Marjorie Hunter is one of five 2004 Department of Local Government and Regional Development Regional Achievers Award winners in WA.

Marjorie has made a huge impact on the community of Wyndham.

She and her husband John care take and manage the Bulungurr Hostel, which cares for the aged and victims of domestic violence.

Marjorie's home has always been open to homeless and 'at risk' children.

She travels frequently to Fork Creek to provide a Meals on Wheels service.

She is a founding member of the Amenities Club and was instrumental in the establishment of the Aboriginal Resource Centre and the Joorook Ngarni Aboriginal Corporation.

Marjorie is a Catholic matriarch and church leader.

As well as a trophy, she will receive a $1000 AwardSaver account to be spent on furthering her field of endeavour.
