Jim gets a place on board

Halls Creek Shire president Lynette 'Jim' Craig has been appointed as a member of the board of the Kimberley Development Commission (KDC).

Kimberley Minister Ljiljanna Ravlich said Cr Craig would join the board as an appointment in the local government category.

Ms Ravlich said Cr Craig, who arrived in Halls Creek some 30 years ago as a nurse at Halls Creek Hospital, was active in community affairs and was currently vice president (northern region) of the Isolated Children's Parents Association State Council, a member of the Kimberley ACC and a shire representative on the zone control authority of the Agricultural Protection Board.

"I am pleased that Cr Craig has agreed to take on the additional responsibilities of a board member," the Minister said.

"The board has a vital role in bringing together diverse Kimberley interests to secure a sustainable future for the region."

The Minister said Ms Ruth Webb-Smith of Fitzroy Crossing would serve a further year as a Ministerial appointment.

Cr Craig and Ms Webb-Smith would join board chairman Pat Dodson and current board members Alan Tietzel and Barbara Johnson of Kununurra, Peter Kneebone of Derby and Tom Vinnicombe, Veronica Wevers and Wayne Bergmann of Broome.

Ms Ravlich thanked outgoing local government representative Josey Farrer for her six years of service to the KDC, including three years as deputy chair.
