Trihards End of Year

BY MARIAN FLOYD

Kununurra Trihards finished the year in style.

The club attracted more than 25 entrants for its final event - the biggest field yet.

Competitors were hot sweaty and the heat was the last thing they needed for the final event.

It started at 4pm in Whimbrel Road with a swim (this lasted for a good part of the event).

They then got started on liquid refreshments; this was a hard as the heat made it a battle, but they kept with it, as they didn't want to dehydrate.

Then final leg was a major mountain to climb, finishing with a barbecue and more rehydration fluids.

It was the club's end of year event and not much training was needed.

The Kununurra Trihards will now slow down for a couple of months because of the heat, holidays and people leaving.

The club has two of its champions leaving this year.

They will both be missed and the club won't be the same without them.

Jane Perkins is off to a new challenge.

She has been the backbone of the Trihards for the past five years on the committee and a major motivator for new comers.

Richard Duke is also off to start a new challenge.

He has opened club members' eyes to what riding is all about and all improved as a result.

Kununurra Trihards will get back into training in late January or early February.

The club will be on the lookout for more members.

There are no more Sunday morning rides from the Post Office until further notice.
