The Telstra Country Wide third round of the Summer Cup was played in typical build-up weather last Sunday morning - hot, humid and no breeze. But all the players claimed that they were sane and enjoyed themselves. By the same token, there was a real scramble to book the buggies with growing demand for the club to buy more. Winner on the day, and regaining his round one status of leader of the pack, was Stuart Clegg with an excellent score of 22 points and this won him a handicap break from 11 to 10. |
Things remain pretty tight for the placegetters, with Rod Puckridge claiming second with 21 points on a count back from Duane Burns, who also got a handicap break of 17 to 16. And, on another count back, Vince Durkin on 20 points got third in front of Alastair Brown. Nearest the pin on #2 went to Stuart Clegg and no one was within a flagstick length of number 4, so the Eagles Nest jackpots to 8 balls for round 4. |
The last round for the year gets underway on Boxing Day. Players may tee off anytime after first light with a member, or members of choice, ensuring that cards are in by noon - the later time being in deference to those who may need the extra time to get over their Christmas dinner. Those without a playing partner should get there before 8am to be drawn in a group. |
