Kununurra police are following up several leads into the fatal accident that claimed a man's life during the early hours of Saturday morning. Police are calling for witnesses and the help of the public in the investigation. At about 12.15am on Saturday, a 39-year-old Kununurra man was struck by a vehicle in Weaber Plain Road, 100 metres west of the Victoria Highway. As a result, the man, who was a pedestrian at the time, received fatal injuries. |
A light-coloured small sedan or hatch back was seen leaving the area and turning left off Weaber Plain Road onto the Victoria Highway. Police are calling for the driver of the vehicle to come forward. Anyone who has any information relating to this crash or who may be able to identify the vehicle or driver involved has been asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or the Major Crash Investigation Unit on 9222 1884. |
Already several people have come forward and police are hoping more people will help them complete the picture. The victim's name cannot be released for cultural reasons. His body has been flown to Perth for an autopsy. |
