The stars for next year's Slingair/Heliwork Kimberley Moon Experience have been announced. They are Australian rock icon Richard Clapton and Ukraine-born classical pianist Anna Sleptsova. The Moon Experience is the pinnacle of the Airnorth Ord Valley Muster and will be on May 28. Chairperson Muster Management Committee Kimberley Kohan said: "We are very excited to have such high calibre artists performing for us in Kununurra next year. Richard Clapton's iconic Australian songs and Anna Sleptsova's brilliant keyboard artistry are sure to provide the East Kimberley audience with a unique musical experience." Best known for his 70s classics Girls on the Avenue, Capricorn Dancer, Deep Water and Goodbye Tiger, Richard Clapton will perform songs from his recently released 'Diamond Mine' CD, which has been hailed by music critics as 'Clapton's best album in 27 years'. |
Four years in the making, Diamond Mine was recorded in Richard's home studio with a who's who of Australian musicians, including esteemed players such as Terepai Richmond (The Whitlams), Stuart Hunter (Silverchair), Mark Lizotte (Diesel) Ian Moss (Cold Chisel), Dave Leslie (Baby Animals) and more. The other headline act for the Moon Experience concert is classical pianist Anna Sleptsova. She was born in the Ukraine, where she gained her Master of Piano Performance and Teaching degree with Distinction at the Kiev State Conservatorium. Anna settled in Australia in 1995 and is now regarded as one of the country's finest concert pianists. |
Now living in Perth, Anna is much loved for her performances at the Terrace Proms, the Blackwood River Chamber Music Festival, Mozart at Twilight and other events. She is a professional pianist and teacher of international standing, having appeared as a recitalist and soloist with orchestras and ensembles in Eastern Europe, Germany, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, Japan and Australia. In 2002, Anna released a CD album of classical works by Sergei Rachmaninov and Mikhail Glinka. Richard Clapton and Anna Sleptsova will be supported by the Dave Mann Collective, which will return to the East Kimberley for a second Muster appearance, this time with a new album Endless Page, which is scheduled for release in February.
