The Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley's new chief executive officer has started work.
Peter Stubbs is no stranger to the Kimberley, having worked in Kununurra and Derby, whilst working for the Department of Agriculture.
His move into local government he describes as 'almost accidental'.
The job came up for a chief executive officer at Moora in 2000; he got it and has been there since.
Mr Stubbs comes to the Kimberley with a very positive attitude and says that, because of the time he has spent up here, he is under no illusions about the weather.
In fact, the region suits him down to the ground, as he loves the outdoors, camping, travelling and sports.
He is on a three-year contract and hopes to renew that contract at least another two times.
"I don't have the desire to go on from here to another council," he said.
"I'm not a corporate ladder climber."
He has a wife and two children - a daughter completing Year 12 and a son in Year 11.
They will complete the school year down south before joining him at Christmas.
Mr Stubbs was brought up on a dairy farm near Bunbury.
He went to high school at Armadale, matriculating to Murdoch University, where he studied environmental science, later joining the Department of Agriculture.
Monday might have been a public holiday for most people, but Mr Stubbs was hard at it in the office. |
