Truth will out

Whether as a result of last week's editorial, or whether from pure coincidence, the worst kept secret in Kununurra was finally made public on Monday.
The planned 'bun fight' for Kununurra today (Thursday) is in fact the signing of the agreement between representatives of the Miriuwung Gajerrong people and the State Government for the Ord Stage II area.
The Acting Premier Eric Ripper would join Kimberley Land Council representatives and local Aboriginal people for the signing.
Now, as a Labor government with a local Labor Member, one would have assumed that Carol Martin would be provided with travel as part of the official party.
As the local newspaper, one would have assumed the Kimberley Echo might have been invited.
Perhaps ours and Mrs Martin's invitations got lost in the post.
After all, Mrs Martin has crossed swords with Mr Ripper over the Rubibi Land Claim near Broome.
The Kimberley Echo was critical of the secrecy surrounding today's signing.
Is this signing the big go-ahead for Ord Stage II that the government is pretending?
It's not and we will explain why in next week's Kimberley Echo.
