Child sex case remand

Kununurra FESA regional co-ordinator Graeme James Down has been remanded to appear in the Kununurra Magistrates Court on November 22 to face 15 child sex charges.
The prosecution will allege that the offences occurred between 1981 and 1983 at Bedford, Bindoon and Dwellingup in the State's southwest.
The charges are in relation to complains from four men, who were under 14 years of age at the time.
At the time of the alleged offences, Down was a Christian Brothers teacher.
The alleged victims are believed to have been 10 years old at the time.
The offences are alleged to have taken place on school camps and in classrooms.
Down was a teacher at the now-defunct St Mark's School in Bedford in Perth's inner north.
He later taught at the Christian Brothers Nulunga School, which is now St Mary's in Broome.
Down went on to be the administrator at Kundat Djaru (Ringers' Soak) near Halls Creek.
He successfully applied to leave the Christian Brothers in 1999 and took up his present position in Kununurra, where he has been recognised for his excellent work with FESA.
Down faces 14 charges of indecent dealing of a child under 14 years and one of carnal knowledge against nature (buggery).
Magistrate Antoine Bloemen continued Down's bail of $5000 with a $5000 surety.
