An energetic Kununurra woman has returned from Kalgoorlie after scooping the pool at the Balzano Barrow Race.
Centrelink social worker, Hash House Harrier, Toad Buster and secretary of the Kununurra Historical Society Wendy Carter doesn't let the grass grow under her feet.
The annual 24-kilometre race from Kanowna to Kalgoorlie was named after James Balzano, who prospected around the Eastern Goldfields of WA in the 1890s, pushing his barrow of belongings and prospecting gear.
One Christmas, he even pushed his barrow the 850 kilometre round trip from Kanowna to Esperance - just to see the sea.
Wendy won Champion 1893 category women's individual, Champion Spirit of Balzano President's prize and the highest individual fundraiser category.
Wendy is the only contestant, who has completed every Balzano Barrow Race since its inception in 1993.
