Down from the top

A group of Darwin soldiers enjoyed a week of arduous fun in and around Kununurra last week.

50 men, under the instruction of Padre Morgan Batt and Lt Adam Crockett, canoed on Lake Argyle, went four-wheel-driving and abseiled down sheer cliffs, including the ragged face above Black Rock Pool.

Padre Batt has mountaineered all around the world, including the northern face of Mt Everest.

He said the Kununurra exercise was part of 'Army Adventure Training', which was a mix of fun activities and arduous tasks, aimed at building teamwork, leadership and cohesiveness.

The padre said it had been an excellent exercise and Kununurra people had been 'fantastic and friendly'.

The squad returned to Darwin on Friday.
