The McLarty's and Bill and his wife (not present) came all the way from
Perth to help with the reconstruction of Faraway Bay after the cyclone.
They all worked at Kununurra District High School in the mid 1980's and were
very involved in the community.

Once again the East Kimberley has featured prominently in the WA Tourism Awards with El Questro and Faraway Bay - The Bush Camp taking out awards. El Questro won the award for WA's Major Tourist Attraction. Faraway Bay won the Hosted Accommodation section. Other Kimberley tourism businesses also performed well with Kooljaman at Cape Leveque winning the Eco Tourism Award as well as the Unique Accommodation Award and being inducted into the Hall of Fame; Skywest winning the Major Tour and Transport Operator Award; North Star Cruises taking out the Significant Tour and Transport Operator Award and the New Tourism Development Award; and Broome's Scott Robertson won the Facet Golden Guide Award. The awards were announced at a glittering function at the Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth on Saturday.
