Trudi Roy - bemused but counting herself lucky as things could have been a lot worse.

A boab tree, thought to be thousands of years old, came crashing down on a house in Weaber Plain Road, Kununurra, on Friday. Trudi Roy was inside her home with her children when they heard boab nuts bouncing off the roof and then heard the tree crashing onto the verandah roof and parts of the house. They rushed outside and were amazed to see the massive tree leaning on the house. She said there had been no warning and there was virtually no wind at the time. Older Kimberley residents would remember the house as the home of Heather and Fred Morris. Tony and Trudi Operate eat Kimberley Dozers from the property. Although the verandah was severely damaged, the house appeared to suffer no structural damage other than a small crack in a bedroom. A bulldozer and a massive loader were hooked up in tandem to pull the tree off the house. Trudi and Toni were very impressed with local businesses that rushed to the scene to help them get the tree off the house. Now all that remains of the massive landmark is a pile of mulch.
