Skywest continues commitment

Skywest jet service - to continue during the wet season.

An Air North Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante aircraft to be based in Kununurra.

Skywest Airlines has committed to continuing its jet service into Kununurra throughout the wet season.
The airline's general manager (commercial) Mike Hoar said that despite its competitors' trends to reduce services, Skywest would continue its jet services between Perth and Kununurra on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, as well as a weekly link to include Broome on Thursdays.
Mr Hoar said: "Skywest believes that in providing a regular service to both the leisure and corporate traveller, it is important to maintain this, even during the 'low season'.
"Kununurra does not close down between December and March and it is therefore imperative that residents have access to a regular, reliable service," he said.
Skywest is offering everyday low fares, available at www.skywest.com.au and via travel agents.

In other aviation news:

Airnorth has won the Rio Tinto contract to fly between Kununurra and the Argyle Diamond Mine, previously serviced by Slingair.
The contract is for a period of two years with a further one-year extension option.
The service will operate from Monday to Friday.
An Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante aircraft and six crew will be based in Kununurra, with operations continuing to be managed from Darwin.
Airnorth will continue to operate its regular passenger services from Kununurra to Broome, Darwin and regional Northern Australia on a daily basis.
Other services include international flights via Darwin to East Timor.
Airnorth is believed to have purchased a Brasilia jet that will service some of its routes and may start a run between the Kimberley and the far north of Queensland.
An official announcement is expected soon.
And...QANTAS has made its last flight into Kununurra for the season and possibly for good.
Some say this is not a great loss, as they only picked the best part of the tourist season and then left locals high and dry during the wet season, other than one wet season trial.
