Drug bust
A 67-year-old man is facing drug charges after being caught in possession of 25 clip-sealed bags of cannabis and other related equipment.
Kununurra police will allege that they stopped a vehicle at the corner of Messmate Way and Konkerberry Drive at 6.50pm on Friday and conducted a search on the driver.
They found him to be in possession of a tin containing four clip-seal plastic bags of cannabis.
They then obtained a search warrant to search the man's home, where they found a further 21 bags of cannabis, a set of scales and $450 in cash.
Torched car
Kununurra police have asked the public to help find thieves who stole a car and contents valued at $21,240.
It would appear a unit door was left unlocked at the Country Club.
The thief or thieves entered the room and stole a wallet containing $450, a Tag Hueur watch valued at $2000, a $580 mobile phone and the keys to the room occupant's work vehicle, a Toyota Corolla station wagon.
The theft happened between Thursday night and Friday morning.
At 7am on Friday morning, police were called to the Victoria Highway near Emu Creek, where they found the vehicle on fire.
The Kununurra Fire Brigade rushed to the scene, to extinguish the fire, but the car had already been destroyed.

Large plant robbery
Brazen thieves have stolen about $2500 worth of plants from Charlie Barbagallo's Argyle Kimberley Resort.
The theft was discovered at 5.45am on Sunday and had happened during the night.
70 desert roses had been taken, along with eight foxtail palms, 20 lilies and four terracotta planters valued at $320.

Booze robbery
Police acted swiftly to foil a burglary at Gulliver's Tavern shortly after midnight last Thursday.
Thieves had smashed the front door to the front bar area and grabbed 14 bottles of spirits valued at $687.
Unfortunately for them, the security camera had recorded their actions and police quickly identified them.
A male juvenile was issued with a juvenile caution and his adult partner in crime was charged with burglary and stealing.
Stolen car
Between 3am and 5am on Tuesday thieves smashed the kitchen window to gain entry to a house in Water Lily Place in Kununurra.
They stole keys, which were used to rifle through one vehicle, before they drove away in another.
Police are appealing for anyone who has seen a 'reddish purplish' Toyota Hilux Ute to call 9166 4530 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Also missing are a camera valued at $500 and an Engel fridge worth $1300.
Foiled attempt
Barking dogs alerted the occupants of a house in Casuarina Way, Kununurra, that an attempt was being made to break into their home.
The incident happened at 2.15am on Sunday.
They found a flyscreen had been removed and an attempt made to prise the window open.
In the end, all they lost were cigarettes and a lighter that had been left on a table on a patio at the rear of the house.
Bad guests
It's one thing to take the complimentary soap, shampoo and coffee satchels after staying at a resort, but taking all the linen is a bit more serious.
One guest at Lakeside Resort decided to take two queen-sized sheets, two pillowcases, towels and the shower curtain when they left last week.
Police have their details and it is only a matter of time before they are tracked down.
The property was valued at $175.
DVD thefts
Kununurra police are making enquiries about a grab and run theft from Video 2000 last Friday.
A male asked the shop attendant the price of three DVDs he was holding.
As the attendant tried to find the prices, he suddenly bolted out the door, setting off the security alarm.
The DVDs are valued at $90.
Window smashed
A brick paver was thrown at the National Bank in Kununurra last Friday.
The paver smashed through a window causing $400 damage.
No attempt appeared to have been made to enter the bank. |
