This year's WA Tourism Awards at the Burswood Entertainment Complex on Saturday didn't return as many major awards as usual for the East Kimberley.
Used to blitzing the awards in previous years, the results were a little disheartening, but non-the-less the region and the West Kimberley did come away with numerous accolades.
Willie Creek Pearl Farm tours won the Significant Tour and Transport Operators category as well as the Sir David Brand Award and North Star Cruises won the Adventure Tourism section.
Red Sky Cruises won the Hosted Accommodation category (as well as a gold medal in the Adventure Tourism category) and Seashells Resort (Broome) won the Deluxe Accommodation section.
Voyager El Questro was inducted into the 2006 Hall of Fame in the Major Tourist Attractions section.
In the medals section, the Airnorth Kimberley Moon Experience won a gold medal in the Significant Festivals and Events category.
Kimberley Wild Expeditions won a silver medal in the Ecotourism section along with Broome Hovercraft (which also won a silver medal in the Significant Tour and Transport Operators section) and Bungle Bungle Wilderness Camp (which was also awarded a silver medal in the Unique Accommodation category).
Kununurra Visitors Centre won a silver medal in the Visitor Centres category and Broome and the Kimberley DMC won a silver medal in the Meetings and Business Tourism section.
Willie Creek Pearls won a gold medal in Tourism Retailing and the Gibb River Bus Service won a bronze medal in the Significant Tour and Transport Operators section.
Ivanhoe Village Caravan Park won a gold medal in the Tourist and Caravan Park section and Kimberley Croc Backpackers won a bronze medal in the Backpacker Accommodation category.
