Get a grip

You have to wonder when you hear the blitherings of some southerners.
They whinge about having no water and want to pipe ours down to them.
The State Government spends the minimum it can in the north, despite getting most of its income from activities up here.
We pay much higher fuel costs, food and just about everything else and all they say is we've got to expect it living in a remote area.
Apart from the most spectacular country in Australia, there is one thing we do have - water and lots of it.
If we use it, it goes back into the ground or in Kununurra's case - back into the channel after processing.
It is nothing short of amazing to hear Water Corporation's Ashley Vincent coming out and saying that while the figures can be partly explained by the north-west's harsh climate, consumption is still too high.
He says that while the average Perth household uses 270 kilolitres a year, the figure for Broome, Karratha and many other northern towns, is at least double that.
Why don't you insist on water restrictions up here because you've got them in Perth?
Get a touch of reality - it's stupid enough that Kalgoorlie and Kununurra are in the same Federal electorate.
Don't try to impose Perth's ridiculous antics over water on us up here.
Maybe it's time Water Corporation went the same way as Western Power - split up into regional entities that have more of a grip on local realities.
