Some dope - no licence
A game of 'musical chairs' in a car that had been stopped for a random breath test failed to impress Kununurra police.
Police will allege they pulled up a car near Celebrity Tree Park at 2.05am on Friday.
Snr Const. Ron Dodson said they saw the driver dive into the back seat between two females and another man leave the car from the passenger side and go to a rubbish bin nearby.
Police emptied the bin and found a Clipsal bag containing marijuana leaf material.
All the occupants of the car denied owning the drug or driving the vehicle, claiming the driver had 'run off'.
Police will allege that further questioning revealed that the man in the back seat was the driver and also the owner of the cannabis.
He was charged with driving without a licence, drink driving and possessing a prohibited drug.
Female car thieves
Three teenage girls have been charged following a bout of lawlessness during the early hours of last Friday.
Police will allege the girls and a male went to a house in Carbeen Street Kununurra and, whilst one girl kept lookout, the others attempted to steal alcohol from a refrigerator on the rear veranda of the house.
Finding it empty, they tried the back door and found it unlocked.
They then stole two sets of car keys, using them to steal a Mitsubishi ute and a Rav 4.
The Mitsubishi was returned as it had nearly run out of fuel.
At 11.35pm on the same day, police received information that the Rav 4 had been spotted near the Ranch Reserve.
They pulled the vehicle over on Weaber Plain Road and found it contained six people.

Tip it out
New liquor laws will allow police to tip out open containers of alcohol in the street, parks or sporting grounds.
Snr Const. Dodson said that previously they had to convince people to tip out their own alcohol.
Juveniles will have the alcohol seized.
And...the penalties have also increased - from $50 to $200 on the spot fines.
General crackdown
Kununurra police are targeting several offences in coming weeks.
Top of the list will be people not wearing seat belts, who will be hit with the new $500 fine per offence.
People who drive whilst using their mobile phones will also feel the pinch.
Police have already started their part in a national campaign to crackdown on heavy vehicles.
Snr Const. Dodson said police were checking permits, tyres, lights, mechanical condition as well as the composure of drivers to ascertain whether they had been taking enough breaks and were not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Don't light fires
Lighting unauthorised fires can incur heavy penalties and Kununurra police are asking people to report anyone they see lighting up the bush.
Snr Const. Dodson said people should call police immediately they saw someone being a fire bug.
In for his chop
Girding up his loins took on a whole different meaning for a man in Tuckerbox Stores last week.
Another shopper reported to staff that the man had stuffed a packet of mutton loin chops down his pants.
It will be alleged that he then went to the checkout and proceeded to buy a packet of chewing gum.
When asked if he had anything else he replied 'no'.
Police were called and his bounty was discovered.
Police will allege he told them: "I got hungry; you don't know what it's like."
A 24-year-old man has been charged with stealing.
Message not getting through

Kununurra police will allege that on Tuesday last week at 12.45am the man asked the woman to get him cigarettes.
When she refused, he punched her in the head three times, causing the cut and knocking her from her chair.
