A 46-year-old Kununurra man has been charged with causing aggravated grievous bodily harm following the discovery of a body at Kununurra District High School. Kununurra Det. Snr Const. Grant Barber said police would allege that Kenneth Paul Gordon was heading home along Mangaloo Street, Kununurra, with his de facto partner when an argument broke out between the couple. It will be alleged that the argument escalated into a physical confrontation that ended with Gordon punching and kicking the 36-year-old woman. He then dragged her off the street and into the car park at the main entrance to the school. Gordon then went to Kununurra police station and asked for assistance, leading police to where the woman was. An ambulance was called, but the woman was already dead. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday last week. A post mortem was due to be conducted on the woman's body this week. Det. Snr Const. Barber said that, subject to its findings, the charges might be upgraded to murder. Rumours circulating Kununurra that the woman's throat had been cut were incorrect. The woman's name will not be released for cultural reasons.
