Parker gets jail

Notorious former Kununurra businessman Stephen Parker has been sentenced to nine years jail in the NT Supreme Court.
The 42-year-old was sentenced last week with a four and a half-year non-parole period.
Parker shot his neighbour over a trespass dispute.
Daniel Krul, 46, was shot in the stomach and chest when he drove to his Marrakai property to discuss a trespass order on August 21 last year.
Parker pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Parker's Kununurra business S. Parker Mechanical Repairs was the source of numerous conflicts over shoddy work, outrageous charges and abusive behaviour.
The business was closed down in February 2004 and the Parkers moved to Darwin.
Krul told the court that he drove to where Parker lived in a caravan to discuss a trespassing order.
He alleged that when Parker saw him coming he ran out of his caravan, armed with a rifle and shot him.
With the pain intensifying, he got back into his car and, before he could wind up the window, Parker shot him again.
Evidence was given that both men had been involved in an ongoing dispute, with Parker trying to gouge out Krul's eye on a previous occasion.
