The latest charges take to 11 the number of Kalumburu men charged in relation to paedophilia in the past two months.
The men, who appeared in court on Wednesday morning, faced charges of sexual penetration of children and indecent dealing.
All four were remanded in custody to appear again next Monday.
Trail bike warning
Kununurra police have issued a stern warning to trail bike riders not to ride their bikes in public places, on roads or along road verges.
The warning followed an incident last week in the Coles car park.
Snr Const. Shane Wheeler said that shortly after midnight on May 30 police received a complaint about a trail bike in the car park.
Police will allege they chased the bike from there to White Gum Park and down Coolibah Drive, where the motorcyclist fell off.
They will allege he then ran off and hid under bushes, where he was later found.
A 16-year-old youth has been charged with giving false name, driving with a blood alcohol of .100, failing to stop, driving without a licence and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Aggravated assault
What started off as some loud yelling turned more serious in Erythrina Street on Sunday.
Kununurra police will allege they received a report of a 24-year-old woman yelling abuse.
When they arrived, they asked her to quieten down, which she refused to do, instead running to attack another 24-year-old woman.
When police intervened, she allegedly turned her attack on to a male officer.
The woman has been charged with assaulting a public officer, common assault and disorderly conduct.
Scooter attack
A 34-year-old man received a large cut to his head after being attacked with a child's scooter in Sandalwood Street in Lakeside on Saturday.
Snr Const. Wheeler said police would allege that at about 9pm the victim had asked a 24-year-old man to settle down after he became abusive.
They will further allege that the younger man then punched the older one in the face before kicking him in the chest.
He then grabbed a child's scooter and used it to hit his victim.
The man's large cut was treated at Kununurra District Hospital.
The younger man has been charged with aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm.
Praise for motorists
Kununurra police have praised the behaviour of local motorists attending the Airnorth Kimberley Moon Experience.
Snr Const. Wheeler said only three motorists were charged with drink driving offences on Saturday night and this was on a par with a normal Saturday night.
"I commend those who were sensible and made use of the buses," he said.
Police were not called on to attend any incidents associated with the concert.
In all, 11 motorists were charged with drink/driving offences in the seven days up until Tuesday this week.
Be vigilant
Kununurra police have reminded both tourists and locals to remain vigilant about locking their doors and windows to prevent burglaries.
Although there have been very few recent burglaries, Snr Const. Wheeler said it would be wise for people not to let their guards down.
"Prevention is better than cure," he said. |
