Halls Creek rape

A 23-year-old Halls Creek man is facing 12 serious charges related to a sexual attack on a woman near the town.
Det. Sgt Tom Doyle said police would allege the man spotted the woman in the town's hotel and then followed her to a party.
When he saw her leaving the party, he again followed her into a nearby creek bed, where he asked her for sex.
It will be alleged that when she refused, he used a tree branch to knock her unconscious.
When she came to, he told her to strip, threatening her with the tree branch.
He then forced her to have normal, anal and oral sex before releasing her and telling her to go home.
Shane Ebay of Red Hill community has been charged with disabling a person, rendering a person incapacitated, two counts of deprivation of liberty, four counts of aggravated sexual penetration and four counts of sexual penetration.

Sex charge

Kununurra detectives have charged a 19-year-old Kununurra youth with sexual penetration of a person under 16 years of age.
The charge relates to an alleged incident last year.

Car chase

A high-speed car chase through the streets of Kununurra on Saturday ended when the car went into a ditch.
Snr Const. Ron Dodson said police would allege the incident began at 4.35am when police attempted to pull up a car on the Victoria Highway.
The vehicle allegedly sped away, turning into Hibiscus Drive.
Police activated emergency lights and sirens, pursuing the car along numerous streets, with it fishtailing out of control on several occasions.
At times they reached speeds of up to 110 kilometres an hour in 60 kilometres an hour zones.
When the chase moved onto Weaber Plain Road, the driver switched off his lights and police lost sight of the car.
However, it wasn't long before they located it in a roadside drain in Speargrass Road, with the rear wheels in the air.
The 19-year-old driver has been charged with reckless driving, failing to stop and driving with a blood alcohol in excess of .02.

Minor crime spree

A 17-year-old youth began on a one-man crime spree last Thursday evening in Kununurra.
It will be alleged he started his evening by grabbing a 1125-millilitre bottle of bourbon from the Hotel Kununurra bottle shop and running away with it.
A staff member pursued him but was unable to catch him.
However, a police patrol was more effective and nabbed him in River Fig Avenue, but not before he had guzzled one quarter of the bottle.
He was charged with stealing and released.
Then at 1.20am on Tuesday, he was spotted again, this time spraying graffiti on the walls of the National Bank in Ebony Street.
Police will allege he still had wet paint on his hands when they caught him.
A little over an hour later, he was observed using a concrete block to smash a window at Chicken Treat.
It will be alleged he then entered the building, triggering alarms and stole a 1.25-litre bottle of Coca Cola.
He was chased and later located on the premises of the Big Boab Backpackers.
Charges of unlawful damage and burglary were added to his list.

Control by pepper spray

Police had to resort to using pepper spray to control a man following a domestic dispute last Thursday at 6.45pm.
Kununurra police will allege the incident began when the man's de facto refused to get out of bed and went back to sleep.
He then kicked her in the back of the head.
She called out and other occupants of the house in Grey Box Crescent ejected him from the house.
Snr Const. Dodson said the man re-entered the house.
When police arrived, he was hiding behind a bedroom door.
He was arrested, but as police attempted to put him in the back of the 'Paddy Wagon', he wrestled with them, used his legs to stop them closing the door and kicked out.
Pepper spray was used to try to subdue him but was largely ineffective.
Eventually they were able to wrestle him out of the van and onto the ground, where he was handcuffed.
He was administered remedial care when he reached the police station.
The man was charged with aggravated common assault and obstructing police.

No child restraint

A 39-year-old man is facing three charges after being pulled up on Weaber Plain Road at 12.45am on June 13.
He was issued an infringement because a two-year-old child was not restrained in the vehicle.
Whilst police were talking to other passengers in the car, it will be alleged the man went to the rear of the police vehicle and urinated in clear view of other members of the public.
The vehicle was discovered to be unlicensed.
He was charged with disorderly conduct, driving an unlicensed vehicle and failing to ensure a child was properly restrained.

Wrong names

If you're trying to scam police into believing you're someone you're not, it's a good idea not to give the name of someone they know.
It would make further good sense to know your date of birth.
Not so it would seem for a 41-year-old and a 32-year-old in Kununurra.
In separate incidents on June 12 they both gave names that were not their own and belonged to people police knew.
Both were charged with giving false details.
